You know you get the dumb look on your face and is this damn thing working? Ethernet has activity indicators, you know the two lights on the RJ45 socket. Well, we can do the same for Serial Ports remember that Arduino's are only 2 pins (rx and tx).  Factoid: I hate messing with RS232 connectors. So where does it say that You must use DB-9/15/25? really nowhere. So grab you an RJ45 Breakout Socket without magnetics from the web. So we have four (4) pairs to play with. BTW pairs are a goo ...
Stock Image of the Scroll Saw Image 1 Well ok,  this is kind of backward... I don't have a good picture of what it looked like before I started with its resurrection. I found this Moto-Shop 571-4 (image 1 is a web image. Mine was dirtier)  at the local Goodwill (they sell stuff by the pound). It cost me a big 5bucks, and I thought that it would be good to use to cut my instrument panel. When I first plugged it in, I heard the motor hum and the bar kind of move.. This meant the moto ...
This is a necessary evil of any lab, workshop. I have needed one for quite awhile. When I moved from New Jersey to in 1979 I left my floor unit with my bother. Imported yes, but well done, and morse taper removable chuck. So the other day Harbor Freight was having a Black something Sale and with the coupons and what not I pick this one up for about 40 bucks. Major Components Drill motor unit Drill Plate Base Column I did not really expect much. I opened the box, nothing missing ...
Ok for me this is off topic but it is something that I am meddling about with. I picked up a dead Blu-ray player with no drive, but it does have a nice RJ-45 and an internal WiFi transceiver sticking out of the back, and a neet black front panel. Now as it happens the thing also is written in Java. THE PLAN: is to make it see my NFS mounted library, and to play them like locally mounted media. THE ANALYSIS: I have included my configuration, see the table below. Checking around I found out th ...
The RSS has been well sort of like a trial by fire. Well to put it bluntly it was nuts, with too many moving parts.!! Sort of like an old Rube Goldberg Machine. What I needed was a better way. Enter Java. Java has been around for more than a decade by now, it 'is concurrent, class-based, object-oriented, and specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible' - Wikipedia. When It was first introduced I grabbed a book, and I liked what I saw, and over the years writing ...

I'm sorry for this post at this time there is no rime or reason for it but I just got a Cessna 402 fuse panel, cheap or about 50 cents a breaker. So I'm going to regress just a little. First, all good simulators need fuse panels. Having said that, they may be there maybe not, mostly for dress or doing the work. But a simulator is also for training pilots right? So how in the world do you simulate a failure? And what is the pilot's response? Think about it (none or by some keyboard input). Solu ...

I was going to use my Suncom F-18 Tallon Joystick but I had an F-18 Joystick from High Rev Simulations. They over-built stuff, now DOA, but Bugeye Technologies can help you.   Well, here I am again so let you all in whats really going on. I need a dual Throttle Quadrant. As I have said before I have 2 of them.   So here is the PLAN: Now I distrust USB as when it fails you cant trust the configurations anymore.  So I will communicate via RS-485 between Arduinos, with the master node, using NASA's EADIN Lite Protocol. having an Ethernet interface, to talk to the simulator. So far I have 3 nodes: Master: runs joystick and talks to the simulator vi ...
