Portable Electronics Kit Enter Your Electronics & Design Project for Your Chance to Win a $100 Shopping Cart! Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   Just a chance to add some final pictures (well, 'pre' final pictures really), before the 'actual' final pictures when the pesky PSU is done!   Once the assembly and soldering is completed then I'll move onto something more 'interesting'.   First, the failed Light Guide using plasti ...
Portable Electronics Kit Enter Your Electronics & Design Project for Your Chance to Win a $100 Shopping Cart! Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   It's been a little while since an update - and this is really rather minor, it revolves almost exclusively around the PSU case design.   The initial sketch up in Fusion360 looked grand but printed less than great. Having decided (unnecessarily) to adorn the upper surface with logos I set ...
Portable Electronics Kit Enter Your Electronics & Design Project for Your Chance to Win a $100 Shopping Cart! Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   Update on the PSU Case.   Had a bit of fun in Fusion 360, sorted keyways for the two switches, radiused off some edges and, well, you'll see.     Unnecessary but . . . . what the heck!       OK, it sorta looks ok. The cable can't reach the slot I left as the ...
Portable Electronics Kit Enter Your Electronics & Design Project for Your Chance to Win a $100 Shopping Cart! Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   It's been around a week since the competition closed and I've made gradual progress in a couple of areas. Most of my time has been spent in front of Fusion 360 redesigning a PSU case. Once that is complete I'll print it (and post the results here).   Things I didn't have lying around ha ...
The recent Safe and Sound wearables challenge has suddenly become a bit more relevant to me than it was when it was launched. At the time I had no real ideas to offer, which meant I didn't submit an application - things have now changed slightly.   My 68 year old father-in-law recently suffered a massive heart attack and (because that isn't serious enough) VF arrest in the ambulance (just as they arrived at the hospital)! One roller coaster ride later, 2 stents (1 metal and 1 bio-absorbab ...
Ah, well, as I tend to use fingerprint recognition on my mobile device I guess that updating it will be tricky . . .   Maybe one of those fingerprint removers like in the 'Men In Black' movies (thank goodness I didn't opt for iris scanning, have you seen Demolition Man)?   Next I'm gonna need some new and unique prints, I'm sure if I dig around on TOR enough something will turn up (including Security Services).   Maybe I just need to swap out my fingers instead, what with ther ...

A strange quandary

Posted by the-dubster Nov 26, 2016
Recently something unusual has happened, my finances have taken a rather positive turn for the first time in over a decade, maybe two! I now find myself more able to afford the things I want as opposed to just the things I need.   Now I'm not saying this to brag - that's not my style - plus I'm not that well off, just less restricted; the reason I mention it is I now have a new problem (a 'first world problem' I admit, but one I wasn't expecting).   I'm now finding myself trying to j ...

Arbitrary Blog Post

Now to be fair, I'm only doing this for the badge - points and all that. When did acheivements begin to rule our lives?   I remember when just doing something was an achievement, completing your first circuit, fixing your first tv, kissing your first girl (or boy, whichever was your preference), stabbing yourself for the first time with the lethal screwdriver that came with Meccano . . . . .   We didn't have badges (unless you were a Scout - I was, my mother kept my old shirt - my w ...
