    I received a complimentary Warp7 and this is the start of the review I promised. I've spent some time with the Warp7 and here are my observations.

     

    I have had this board for about 6 months and haven't had enough time to try everything I want. I hope to have some of my embedded systems students begin building meaningful applications for it, but so far none have wanted to take on the challenge. I have a student signed up for a body area network directed study beginning fall semester.

     

    You will need two USB cables and ports. One micro USB is used for power and one is the CLI port, which is the only way to communicate with a new board. Set the serial port to 115200 baud, data bits 8, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control.

     

    First, the first advantage I noticed was that Linux is already flashed on the board when it arrives. You can power it up and go right out of the box. No downloading images and initializing SD cards. And the boot process is faster than my other platforms that boot from a card. I have not tired to update yet. I included the serial output during the boot up process in Exhibit A.

     

    I haven't tried to MikroBus cards because I broke one of the board-to-board connectors trying to separate the CPU from the interface board with attempting to connect the battery.

     

    I do not recommend you use the battery. I found the battery impossible to connect tot eh board (even under a stereo-zoom microscope). After a few attempts, I ripped the connector off the board. I soldered the battery wires on the board and it works fine, but now I can't turn the board off. I have to wait for the battery to go dead.
