very good question indeed. I think each company with a relatively big size make this job for its own with their regulatory and certification dept. and I don't think that you can find publicly this information.
On the other hand, laboratories involved in EMC etc... tests published information on this topic. For France for example, EMITECH has a huge knowledge on international certification in general and on WiFi requirements in particular. You can ask them for Country requirements for typical products.
My contact is Philippe Bourvon - p.bourvon at emitech.fr.
You can also find very helpful information on:

For my part, we don't have yet WiFi products but if some people want to exchange on international requirements around Elec. Safety, EMC, Energy Performance, we can exchange with pleasure.
I hope my answer will help you in your search, don't hesitate to give me a feedback if you find other sources.
Thank you for your reply.
I will take a look at the references you made, when i come up with more facts, then i will share them later.
On the face of it you should also consider R&TTE and possibly physical agents directive although if a conventional Wi-Fi system the field strengths might be too low for this to be an issue. Further digging required, I can recommend appropriate consultants.
When you add a radio module to a product, the product falls under the R&TTE directive.
The R&TTE Directive "trumps" EMC and LV Directives - that is, it contains their requirements so the ultimate DoC would only be to R&TTE Directive. If however, the module when into a medical device or a machine, then those directive would also apply.
R&TTE covers three mains areas:
Article 3.1a - safety, including human exposure to EM fields
Article 3.2b - EMC
Article 3.2 - Radio Spectrum
The R&TTE compliance association have produced a guide on integrating radio modules:
Or, shout if I can give you some more information.
I am currently investigating the regulatory impacts of adding WiFi or WLAN to embedded products.
We want to be able to market the products world-wide and for EU we have to make sure that RTTE are covered, but what applies in other countries ?
Is there a common place for this kind of information and will there even be countries that will not allow a WiFi transmitter inside the product ?
I hope someone has some ideas to get me started
