You could use a wire-wrap socket which has longer pins. You can bend alternating pins to opposite sides before bending back down. This will provide much more room to solder heavy wire to each pin.
Yes Douglas, the wire-wrap socket is also the best option.
I would like to connect 18AWG wires to DIP24 socket.
Any suggestion of type of connections other than soldering?
I am thinking of whether to use crimp contact to connect the socket pins, but the diameter of the socket pins are typically 0.51mm.
And most sockets are bigger than 1mm.
