The award reflects Farnell’s outstanding performance in key areas such as business development, inventory management and operations, delivered globally through Farnell’s European business.

TDK’s awards are based on the annual Senten Manten distributor performance evaluation programme, where Farnell was awarded the top score of 740 points out of 1000, across the categories.

Farnell attended the 2020 ‘Accelerating Growth Conferences’ for EMEA and the Americas, hosted by Tektronix, in Portugal and Portland respectively across January and February. The conferences were attended by leading partners to learn, network and strategise for continued growth and partnership as well as to celebrate the success stories of 2019.

At the EMEA conference in Portugal, Farnell representatives met with their colleagues at Tektronix and other channel partners to reflect on the past year and look ahead to 2020 to ensure continued excellence.

At the Conference award ceremony, Farnell received the Business Excellence Award in the New Product category. The award recognises the great results Farnell achieved with its teaser campaign and product launch of the 3 Series MDO and 4 Series MSO oscilloscopes from Tektronix in 2019.

The award was given for the launch of Farnell’s Connector e-Guide; an online reference tool providing detailed information on all connectors from leading brands, enabling customers to quickly and easily identify the parts they require for all their interconnect needs.

Farnell, the Development Distributor, was named High Service Distributor of the year for 2019 by Panasonic at the Panasonic Distribution Conference in Munich, on 21 November 2019. The award, for Farnell’s business in EMEA, recognises Farnell’s continued investment in the Panasonic range and business performance in the year.

Farnell doubled its level of inventory of Panasonic products in the last 18 months, including key New Product Introductions such as Panasonic’s range of Anti-vibration capacitors. This increased inventory, coupled with Farnell’s service proposition in Europe, including local sales teams, next day delivery and 24/5 technical support enabled Farnell to deliver for more Panasonic customers than any other distributor during the period.

The extension of Farnell’s Panasonic range follows significant investment in the business since acquisition by Avnet in 2016. Farnell element14, the Development Distributor, was recognised in two categories at the inaugural Electronics Industry Awards on 25^th September in Birmingham.

The business, which is part of the Premier Farnell Group and Avnet, was named Distributor of the Year and was ‘Highly Commended’ for its environmental leadership activities which includes its successful recycling programme for customers. The winner of each category was determined by votes from industry peers.

For the second year in a row, Farnell element14 was also the clear winner of the Tektronix Best Marketing Campaign Award.

In the “High Service Provider” category, Farnell element14 was praised for the technical support given to their customers and sales teams, also appointing a specialized Tektronix resource to cover the UK and Ireland. Marketing support included the development of custom-built digital campaigns to target specific product and application areas, creating awareness and building market share.

Farnell element14 was also awarded “Best Marketing Campaign” following its response to search data obtained through its website for competitor products, not currently stocked. Farnell element14 worked closely with the Tektronix sales and marketing team to build a multi-media, multi-touch campaign to create leads and convert opportunities. The campaign was supported by external advertising, internal web activities, re-directions to dedicated landing pages and special offers, banners, emails, callout campaigns and sales support, resulting in a +55% increase in orders for Tektronix basic oscilloscopes.

This week Farnell element14 launched Phoenix Contact’s SMD components to the COMBICON product range for SMT production.

Reflecting the trend towards surface mount devices in recent years, the SPT-SMD product series features compact spring-cage PCB terminal blocks with direct plug-in technology for industrial applications up to 1.5 mm², optimised for existing SMT lines where the connection direction and voltage level can be freely chosen.

Farnell element14’s Phoenix Contact portfolio also includes products from the industrial components, industrial electronics and interface divisions.
