Farnell element14 embraces a connected world at Embedded World 2016

Distributor unveils exclusive products and partnerships in Nuremberg across two stands

Embedded World 2016 will see a significant Farnell element14 presence, as it showcases its latest dev kits, single-board-computers, software products, and services on-stand. It will also expand its presence across a second stand, the result of an exclusive partnership with NXP, where it will be demonstrating a dedicated selection of Internet of Things (IoT) enabling products.

The co-branded NXP stand [Foyer of Hall 4A, East Entrance] will give visitors the chance to demo the latest dev kits for use in IoT, motor control and sensor applications. This joint collaboration is the result of the close partnership between the two businesses, and will showcase the highlights from the NXP range.

As well as the first look at the WaRP7, a wearable system-on-module and baseboard that uses the i.mx 7 to enable secure medical and entertainment applications, and recently launched LPC43S67 & A70CM Cloud Connectivity Kit, a maker-focused space will give hands-on demos with the FRDM KV and K22/46 boards.

With a number of exciting launches still to come in the run up to the event, the dedicated Farnell element14 stand [Stand 120, Hall 5] will showcase the latest products from the leading brands in the industry. These include CadSoft’s EAGLE Pro and MAKE tools, Maxim’s newly launched MAX32600MBED, Intel’s Galileo Gen2 and element14 BeagleBone Black Industrial.

As well as demonstrating the latest Raspberry Pi accessories on what will almost be the fourth birthday of the best-selling credit-card sized computer, Farnell element14 will be unveiling an expansion of its design and manufacturing services, in order to offer a similar customisation service for other boards as it currently does for the Raspberry Pi. Announced last October, the latest development reflects popular customer demand for the ability to customise other SBCs, introducing a number of new boards – from a variety of manufacturers – for the first time.

“Embedded World 2016 gives us the opportunity to not only demonstrate the sheer range of dev kits and exclusive products that are coming out of our strategic alliances in 2016, but also showcase our commitment to listening to our customers and their needs,” said Richard Curtin, Global Director of Strategic Alliance at Farnell element14.

“Whilst dev kits and SBCs are becoming an ever more integral part of design engineeers’ process, and we continue to stock the industry’s largest dev kit range, we’re now meeting the needs of engineers in other ways. These include software and services that assist in the early stage design and prototyping of new electronics - including our exclusive customisation service.”

On the final day of the show, a CodeBug focused area will be added to the Farnell element14 stand, for visitors to get the chance to get hands on with education-focused products, as well as the first look at the Intel Genuino 101 and the BBC collaboration micro:bit.

An exclusive on-stand competition will run throughout the duration of the event – “Dare to Fly?” - offering participants the chance to get their hands on a dev kit of their choice. To do so, they will be tasked with flying a miniature drone to designated areas of the stand.
