Farnell element14 to sponsor Renishaw’s Greenpower team for the 2018 Greenpower race season

Renishaw sponsorship

Farnell element14, the Development Distributor, is sponsoring Renishaw’s Greenpower team for the 2018 race season run by the Greenpower Education Trust.

The Greenpower Education Trust is a UK based charity which aims to get young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race electric cars. More than 10,000 students take part in Greenpower races each year, from primary school age through to university.

Renishaw supports Greenpower as an event partner, as it encourages young people to experience engineering and get involved in innovative design as part of their school career, through the excitement of competitive racing.

Farnell element14, like Renishaw, is committed to helping grow the next generation of engineers. By sponsoring the Renishaw Greenpower team for the 2018 season, Farnell element14 is supporting the aim of inspiring young people to investigate the opportunities that a career in engineering can bring. The Renishaw cars, designed and manufactured by young apprentices and graduates, will display Farnell element14 branding.

Mathew Thorpe, Regional Sales Director for UK and Ireland, Farnell element14, says: “We are excited to be sponsoring the Renishaw Greenpower team for the 2018 race season. Farnell element14, as the Development Distributor, is committed to helping build the next generation of engineers and seeks to provide opportunities for young people to get involved in engineering and encourage them to consider STEM subjects as they further their education. The Greenpower Education Trust, supported by Renishaw, is a fine example of how the industry is working to inspire a future generation of engineers.”

This latest sponsorship builds upon work Farnell element14 and its’ parent company, Premier Farnell, undertakes to raise awareness of engineering and technology as a career choice, including the Farnell element14 University IoT Challenge and Premier Farnell UK Technology Challenge, run in schools in the Leeds area for the last 3 years
